What is your passion and why?

As a child I remember sneaking into my sister’s bedroom while she was out and grabbing her guitar. For countless hours I’d find myself more and more intrigued with the idea of really understanding the instrument and how I could share that passion with the world. Fast forward a few years, I was given the opportunity to join my friend Aaron Long on tour through Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas.  Over the course of those two weeks, Aaron showcased his finely tuned appreciation for coffee and the craft – igniting a flame for the drink which I’d never had before.  As I discovered my love for photography, I became drawn to the sense of community which craft coffee culture encouraged – feverishly documenting my journey.

What are some of your creative goals you are working on?

I am constantly trying to perfect my craft whether it be photography, music, or my newfound appreciation for the v60 pour-over for at-home brewing. Each day creates endless opportunities for growth so I’m always pushing myself to be better today than I was yesterday. My goal for the next four months is to build a portfolio of portraits for a future photography business down the road. Through just getting out and shooting you begin to learn how to improve your photography and even visualize shots in your head for future photo shoots. Each image has the ability to portray an emotion, and in being open to advice from someone else’s knowledge or experience, you’ll only improve.

In learning more about coffee culture, from where they source their beans to the roasting process and then on to the cup you’re served, I’ve grown significantly from when I first dipped my feet into the “pool.” Through building lasting friendships with business owners and baristas along this journey, I’ve gained a better understanding for how to perfect my own pour-over’s at home. In the future, I plan on launching my own coffee shop so that I can share with the community my appreciation for the farmers and the culture so many others have grown to love.

Any side hustles that involve your passion?

At the beginning of 2018, I had the privilege of doing a model shoot for a friend of mine, @scratchthesurface_, who buys, sells, and trades vintage band tees, jerseys, and designer clothing. That opportunity allowed me to lend a helping hand; as well as showcase my passion for photography.

What does our brand, Coffee & Create, mean to you?

Coffee & Create is a brand centralized around the idea of encouraging individuals with creative minds to drink quality coffee and pursue their passions. Each day carries endless possibilities. Coffee helps me to narrow in my focus, pay closer attention to the details through the viewfinder of my camera, and create an image that tells a story.
